Communicating Europe Initiative: Call for Proposals 2010

The Department of Foreign Affairs is now seeking for proposals under the Communicating Europe Initiative. The closing date for applications is Friday, 5 March 2010.

Are you organising a project or activity to raise awareness about the European Union in your community? Are you planning an event to celebrate Europe Day?

If so, you may qualify for funding under the Communicating Europe Initiative, as announced by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Micheál Martin T.D.

Ireland's EU membership affects the daily lives and experiences of Irish people. Raising awareness of how the EU matters in our daily life helps ensure that Irish citizens can take full advantages of the benefits of our membership of the EU.

Voluntary organisations and education bodies play a key role in raising public awareness on EU issues. The Communicating Europe Initiative was established in 1995 to support their efforts and applications for funding are now invited for projects and events planned for 2010.

Events commemorating Europe Day are among those that can be supported by the Communicating Europe Initiative. Europe Day, which takes place on 9 May each year, is an opportunity for Irish citizens to join with their fellow Europeans in celebrating the achievements of the EU.
