New safety standards for baby sleeping products, such as cot mattresses, baby grow bags and duvets have been agreed by EU Member States with the aim of reducing cot-related accidents.
Research has shown that cot related products cause more childhood deaths annually than any other child-care product. 17,000 accidents involving children from 0 to 4 years in the EU from 2005 - 2007 happened in the cot, according to European Injury Database.
