EU Matters.ie - Information about Ireland's membership of the EU

Parents

Ireland (and the other EU member states) are responsible for their own healthcare systems. However, the member states also work together for the benefit of parents and their families.

If you buy something in another EU country and it’s faulty you can contact the European Consumer Centre. (This is like the Irish National Consumer Agency but it deals with problems with items bought in another EU country). And you have an EU-wide 2 year guarantee on all goods bought within the EU.

If there is a real problem, you can also go to the Small Claims Court to solve your issue – even outside Ireland (provided your claim is for less than €2000).
