European Year of Volunteering 2011
2011 has been designated the European Year of Volunteering, providing an opportunity for the thousands of volunteers in Ireland to promote and showcase their work at home and in Europe.
The European Year of Volunteering (EYV) will celebrate the commitment of millions of people in Europe who work in their communities during their free time without being paid – for example in schools, hospitals, sports clubs, protecting the environment or providing social services in their countries.
It will also seek to challenge those who are not currently involved in volunteering to step up and make a difference in their community.
If you wish to share your volunteering experience with millions of volunteers throughout Europe, you can send your story directly to the EYV website
There will also be many events and high-level conferences taking place throughout Europe in 2011. Over the course of the year, the EYV Pavilion
will also tour all the capitals of Europe, allowing volunteering organisations to share their experience and showcase their activities in each Member State. The Pavilion will visit Dublin from 22-28 August.
