More options, more protection and more rights for Shoppers!

So we have the single market. So what? Well, it means lots more options for you when you’re shopping and more protection and rights when you finally do hand over the cash!

You are allowed to buy whatever you like within the EU (and all taxes are included) and bring it home. The only exceptions are fags and booze - but on the upside, you can still get 800 cigarettes when you’re away and 10 litres of spirits so long as they are for personal use.

If you buy something in another EU country and it’s faulty you can contact the European Consumer Centre. (This is like the Irish National Consumer Agency but it deals with problems with items bought in another EU country). And you have an EU-wide 2 year guarantee on all goods bought within the EU.
